Synesthesia is a condition that causes people to smell, taste or see music, see or hear time, feel colors, and many more uncommon sensations. Some people assign personalities to numbers. Learn more about synesthesia here. Could you have synesthesia?
There are several types of synesthesia. Synesthesia is the crossing of the senses. Sometimes people with synesthesia have reactions to certain sounds, smells, tastes, or textures. Here are some well-known kinds:
Space-Time synesthesia: Space-Time synesthesia causes people to see time units (most commonly the months of the year) projected in front of them or circling around them. These people can recite months (or other time units) backwards and forward much easier than others. Most of these synesthetes don't need to use diaries or pocket calendars to remember dates. A rare form of Space-Time synesthesia causes synesthetes to hear sounds associated with time units. *See Me and My Synesthesia for more information.
Ordinal Linguistic Personification synesthesia: This is when people assign personalities and genders to numbers and/or letters. For example, 2 is a girl eating spaghetti, and her brother is 7, who plays basketball. *See Me and My Synesthesia for more information.
